World Powerlifiting Championships 2009

Milton Keynes was THE place to be for all athletes from WDFPF.
This year the WDFPF world championships took place for the first time at Milton Keynes, Great Britain, in November 21st and 22nd
The last great competition of the year held all its promises as it is not less than 15 countries that were represented withand more than 150 competitor were present. Athlètes from Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, France, Malta, Italie, USA, Germany,
and other countries, were present.
As usual, the first day (saturday) was dedicated to "unequipped" (Raw) competition and here the show was just wonderful at the Hilton hotel meeting room.

In the men -100kg Open class, the fight was spectacular between the englishman Simon Marshalland the men's raw best lifter Ukrainian Olexiy Nazarenko, who posted a 1,686 pound (765kg) total that ranks him 24th in the world on the Powerlifting Watch Power Rankings
For -110kg Open Class, always impressive with bench press, the Swiss man Roland Gongarad took the gold medal improving his personal record for squat at 235kg.

American Rich Deleon, who won the superheavyweight raw gold medal with a 1,653 pound total (639, 429, and 584).

Our always amazing 69-year-old American Judy Gedney was there and made a deadlifting at 265 pounds (120.5kg).

 

The second day (sunday) was for the "equipped" competition.
Equipped best lifter runner-up Russian Maxim Tikhonov (275) squatting 771 pounds (350kg)
